Pitra Dosha?
Pitra or Pitru Dosha refers to ancestors /forefathers who could not be relieved of their sufferings. Its a curse of ancestors and simply means that forefathers of persons having Pitra Dosh in their horoscopes are not happy with the native.
As a result, native who has Pitra Dosh can be seen suffering from diseases, constant failures in life, debts, issues related to education not getting completed and other discomforts in life.
Indications - Pitra Dosh
Pitra Dosh - Its presence in a person's life can be judged if they are facing following incidents:

Matra Dosh -
The affliction of moon is considered Matra Dosh if afflicted by any malefic planet.
Pind Daan
Services
As a mandatory rite that is believed to bring salvation to departed souls, Pind-daan is a must to do obligation of all Hindus or followers of Hindu religion. Further, it is also believed that no work can be successfully performed without blessings of ancestors and the doing of Pind Daan invokes blessings of the dead ancestors.
With the ritual performed to pay homage to the deceased ancestors also called 'Pitar' as per our ancient texts, the religious and correct completion of this ritual helps the soul of the dead to attain Moksha (salvation).
Pind Daan Ceremony -
The performing of pind-daan ceremony and ancestor’s puja as per the specific rituals at Gaya, Haridwar, Badrinath, Kurukshetra, Allahabad or any other specified place helps the soul of the departed in attaining salvation.
Moral Duties of All Hindus -
Its moral duty of all persons to clear debts of their forefathers by doing Pind Daan that fulfills parental desires of departed souls. Further, it also wards off restless spirits that affect family members of the dead due to improperly done/half done last rites.
